Bengals Pro Bowl safety Reggie Nelson left the AFC Wild Card game against the Steelers with an injured ankle.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers brought their best defensive efforts against each other early on in their AFC Wild Card game on Saturday night. Neither team could score on each other and gain any traction offensively, as the offenses struggled to make the ball.

One of those big time guys on defense for Cincinnati was Pro Bowl safety Reggie Nelson, who left the game early with an ankle injury.

Losing Nelson is a big blow for the Bengals, as he limits any big plays that are going down the field. He has historically performed well against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and losing him is a major blow to the defense.

The night started off as a memorable one for Nelson, as he got into a bit of a skirmish with Steelers assistant coach Mike Munchak, who shoved Nelson after the two got tangled on the sidelines.

Now Nelson has left the game and the Bengals have to be holding their breath as they hope they can get one of the leaders back out on the field.

It’s a game that is going to take superior defense to win and not having Nelson is a minus for Cincinnati.
